Everybody gets discouraged at some time or another. Perhaps things are not going as well as we had hoped in our lives, our homes, our family or our job, and there seems to be no end in sight. This is a very serious condition to be in because discouragement can so easily lead to depression, disillusionment and despair.

When the circumstances of life get us down, we tend to forget that the seasons of our life have a purpose, and an end under God's direction. That is what the Psalmist discovered. God is sovereign and He has everything under control.

Psalm 73 shares a journey from discouragement to faith as the Psalmist tells us how the FAT CATS of this world made him question the goodness of God in his own life. They seemed to have everything going for them, while he – doing his best to serve the Lord faithfully – seemed to miss out on so much.

Or – at least – that's the way it seemed to him. He got thoroughly discouraged and disheartened... until he heard the Lord say: “Let's talk about LIFE’S FAT CATS and the CURE FOR DISCOURAGEMENT”.
